Exide Launches AGMi AGM Batteries for Premium Cars

Exide Industries Limited has recently announced the launch of Exide AGMi, an advanced Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery range for the Indian automotive aftermarket, addressing the increasing power requirements of modern, technology-driven passenger vehicles.

The Exide AGMi range features spill-proof AGM-VRLA technology, offering enhanced safety, higher cranking power, up to three times longer cycle life compared to conventional batteries, and superior vibration resistance. The portfolio is available in DIN 50, DIN 60, DIN 70, DIN 80 and DIN 95 variants, covering applications from mass-market models to ultra-luxury passenger vehicles. With this introduction, Exide becomes the only Indian storage battery manufacturer to offer a complete AGM battery range.

Commenting on the development, Rajeev Khandelwal, Executive Director – Trade, Exide Industries Limited, said the launch brings advanced AGM technology to the Indian aftermarket and strengthens Exide’s leadership in next-generation battery solutions. He also noted that the India–EU trade deal is expected to accelerate growth in the premium car segment, creating new opportunities for advanced battery technologies.

As start-stop systems, advanced electronics and higher electrical loads become standard in passenger vehicles, AGM batteries are increasingly the preferred original equipment technology. Designed specifically for vehicles factory-fitted with AGM batteries, Exide AGMi ensures optimal compatibility with modern vehicle platforms and electrical architectures.

The AGMi range will initially be available through select aftermarket channel partners in the top ten cities, followed by a phased expansion across other markets in India.
