Ministry of Power to set up low carbon and energy efficiency tech

On Tuesday, Ministry of Power RK Singh told the media that a committee of members from all the relevant ministries will implement a roadmap on energy efficiency and low carbon technologies.

According to the power ministry, he chaired a high-level meeting through videoconferencing on Thursday to look into various energy efficiency programmes and preparedness for climate change actions in the country.

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss energy efficiency activities across all the sectors of the economy with the motive to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

The minister said that renewable development is ongoing, and detailed action plans will be developed to identify potential areas.

The power minister has his focus on sectors with the highest carbon emissions intensity like transport, MSMEs, and power plants.

He also discussed Mission ROSHANEE, which has been implemented for Energy Conservation schemes in the country.

The ministry stressed on implementing better energy efficiency schemes. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency, CPSU under the Ministry of Power would be strengthened.

The high-level meeting had officials from the Ministry of Power, Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Ministry of Coal, Department of Heavy Industry, Department of Expenditure, NITI, Aayog, CEA, BEE, NTCP, PFC, EESL, REC, SECI, and IREDA.
