NTPC Floats EPC Tender for 15 MW Floating Solar Project in Mauritius

NTPC has invited international bids for a 15 MW floating solar photovoltaic project integrated with a 60 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Tamarind Falls Reservoir in Mauritius. The tender has been issued on behalf of NTPC (Mauritius) Energy and represents an expansion of the Indian public sector company’s overseas renewable energy activities.

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract covers a 15 MW floating solar photovoltaic plant and a battery system rated at 12 MW/60 MWh. The grid-connected installation is intended to store electricity and manage variations in solar generation, supporting more dependable renewable power delivery.

The selected contractor will be responsible for the complete development of the facility. The scope includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, transportation, installation, testing and commissioning of the project. The integration of floating solar with battery storage is intended to improve the flexibility of generation when sunlight conditions change.

Post-commissioning obligations have also been included in the tender. These comprise three years of operation and maintenance for the solar plant, an annual maintenance contract for critical equipment and a 12-year comprehensive annual maintenance contract for the battery energy storage system.

The tender requires bidders to provide an earnest money deposit of Rs. 20 mn or its equivalent of US$207,600, along with contract performance security and additional bank guarantees for system integration. The invitation for bids was issued on October 15, 2026, with bid documents scheduled to become available from October 26. A pre-bid conference is scheduled for November 12.

Bids must be submitted by December 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM IST. Technical and commercial bids are scheduled to open on December 8 at 3:30 PM IST, while the opening of price bids will be announced separately after evaluation. Project execution and commissioning will depend on the bidding process and the subsequent contract award.
