SECI Floats 1.2 GW Wind Tender for Transmission-Linked Projects

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has invited bids from Wind Power Developers (WPDs) to establish 1,200 MW of Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected wind power projects. The tender requires selected developers to build the associated transmission network up to the Interconnection or Delivery Point at their own cost.

SECI will accept online bids until October 29, 2026, while offline bids can be submitted until November 2, 2026. Each bidder can submit a single offer for a contracted capacity ranging from 50 MW to 600 MW.

The selected developer will be responsible for identifying suitable land, installing and owning the project, and securing connectivity and other required approvals. The scope also includes interconnection with the ISTS network, State Transmission Utility (STU) network or Intra-State Transmission System (InSTS), depending on the applicable arrangement.

The tender allows developers to establish an STU interconnection and locate the project in the state where the buying entity is based. Power generated under the project will be supplied to SECI through the transmission infrastructure developed as part of the contracted work.

SECI had previously awarded a 2 GW wind tender to 12 developers at tariffs ranging from Rs. 3.78 to Rs. 3.85 per unit. Gentari Renewables India Castors received a 200 MW project at the lowest discovered tariff of Rs. 3.78 per unit, while the remaining capacity was awarded to other bidders at Rs. 3.85 per unit. Several recent SECI wind tenders have not been fully subscribed because of limited bidder interest or pricing concerns.

Bidders must submit an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of Rs. 1.368 mn per MW per project through a bank guarantee. The guarantee must remain valid for 12 months from the final date for bid submission.
