Swaraj Green to build Asia’s largest ethanol unit

Swaraj Green Power and Fuel to establish the largest ethanol production unit in Asia. The plant will be set up in Phaltan, Maharashtra. The targeted capacity of the plant will approximately be 1,100 kilolitres per day (KLPD).

The unit will have a 500 kilolitres per day KLPD capacity in the first stage and 1,100 KLPD capacity in the second stage.

Based on technology by Praj Industries, the unit will be utilising sugarcane juice along with Biosyrup as raw materials. When the unit reaches its full capacity, Swaraj will be the largest Ethanol producing plant in Asia.

The sugar and ethanol producer already has a capacity plant of 60 KLPD built by Praj Industries. The plant is set up on the basis of molasses as feedstock.

An agreement is signed by Swaraj and Praj for the expansion of the capacity to 500 KLPD and is expected to be operating by the third quarter of the financial year 2022-23.

Praj will commission the plant, design, engineer, supply, and bring in the technology of producing ethanol with sugarcane juice and Biosyrup.

Swaraj founder and promoter, Ranjeetsinh Naik-Nimbhalkar said that they are aligning with E20, the ethanol blending program by the government of India. Praj founder chairman, Pramod Chaudhari said Swaraj always looks forward to adopting innovative technologies for ensuring the efficiency of the plants.
