Waaree Energies Doubles Texas Solar Module Capacity to 3.2 GW

Waaree Energies’ US subsidiary, Waaree Solar Americas, has started commercial production at two new solar module manufacturing lines at its Brookshire facility in Texas. The expansion adds 1.6 GW of annual capacity and doubles the facility’s total installed capacity to 3.2 GW.

Each of the two new lines has an annual capacity of 800 MW and began commercial production on October 29. The expansion follows an investment plan approved by the company’s board in April 2025 and is intended to strengthen Waaree Energies’ domestic manufacturing footprint in the US.

The Brookshire project is part of the company’s wider capacity-building strategy in the American market. Waaree Energies is also upgrading its Arizona module manufacturing facility from 1 GW to 1.6 GW. With the planned additions, its solar module manufacturing capacity in the US is expected to reach 4.8 GW in FY27.

The expansion comes as changes in US trade policies, including measures under Section 232, have altered the economics of imported solar modules and increased the importance of local production. The company said the additional capacity would help it serve American developers, utilities and engineering, procurement and construction partners with locally manufactured modules.

Waaree Energies’ US manufacturing operations generated revenue of Rs. 13 bn in Q2 FY27, compared with Rs. 7.32 bn in the corresponding quarter last year. The US domestic business accounted for 43.8 per cent of the company’s Rs. 592 bn order book, up from about 36 per cent at the end of the previous quarter. Its overall module order book exceeds 25 GW. In India, consolidated revenue from operations rose 23.9 per cent to Rs. 75.18 bn in Q2 FY27. The company plans to raise solar cell manufacturing capacity from 5.4 GW to 15.4 GW in FY27 and is targeting a 10 GW ingot and wafer facility by FY28.
