Zetwerk Completes US Power Transformer Installation amid Grid Demand

Zetwerk Manufacturing Businesses and its US subsidiary Unimacts have completed the installation of a power transformer manufactured by Zetwerk in North Carolina. The project marks a step in the company’s expansion into the US power infrastructure market, where electricity demand is increasing because of artificial intelligence infrastructure, data centres and grid modernisation.

Zetwerk’s Energy vertical recorded revenue of Rs. 65.08 bn in FY2026, an 86.90 per cent year-on-year increase. The business accounted for 69.42 per cent of the company’s manufacturing revenue during the financial year as Zetwerk expanded its focus on critical electrical equipment.

The US power sector is under pressure to increase generation and transmission capacity as data centre and AI-related investments raise electricity consumption. Power transformer availability remains a challenge for utilities, developers and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies, with manufacturing lead times in the US averaging 36 to 42 months.

Zetwerk reported lead times of 12 to 15 months for its US power transformers. This compared with industry averages of 36 to 42 months in the US and 30 to 36 months in India during FY2026. The company said its manufacturing model coordinates suppliers across countries and integrates several production stages to improve delivery timelines.

Zetwerk received power transformer orders worth Rs. 20.32 bn during FY2026. Unimacts offers medium-voltage pad-mounted, dry-type and inverter-duty transformer units, along with power transformers rated up to 500 MVA and 765 kV manufactured to IEEE C57 standards. Its production covers cold-rolled grain-oriented (CRGO) steel laminations, transformer cores, core and coil assemblies and tanks. Zetwerk also reported international revenue of Rs. 27.75 bn, while its wider manufacturing business generated approximately Rs. 159.13 bn from 26 facilities. Unimacts operated seven facilities in the US and had previously supplied structural components for utility-scale solar projects.
