Shree Cement inaugurated its Rs.5.5 billion grinding unit in West Bengal's Purulia district. This is the first such unit of the company in the state and has a capacity of three million metric tonne per annum (MTPA ). With commencement of production in West Bengal, the company now has totally 15 plants for cement production in India. Clinker to this facility will be serviced through the company's cement facility in Baloda Bazar district of Chhattisgarh. It is estimated that it will create direct employment opportunities for 1,000 people. With commencement of production at the Purulia unit, the company’s capacity rose to 50 MTPA and the company said that it is on track to achieve a capacity of 80 MTPA in the coming years.
