The Confederation of Real Estate and Developers Association of India (Credai), Mangaluru chapter, is planning to train local youths in various aspects of the construction industry. Vinod R Pinto, the president-elect of Credai, Mangaluru, stated that the organisation aims to offer skill development courses in masonry, tiling, granite works, electrical work, and plumbing, among other areas. The initiative to skill local manpower for the construction industry was started by Credai's India chapter before the COVID-19 pandemic but had to be temporarily halted. With the resumption of activities, Credai Mangaluru aims to replicate the skilling program in the region. The goal is to train local youths for a few months through short-term courses, enabling them to contribute effectively to the construction sector. Currently, the industry in the region relies on workers from outside Karnataka, but their work output is not always satisfactory, necessitating the need for reskilling. Traditionally, workers from states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar have been involved in different construction activities. By providing training to local youths, Credai aims to address the demand for skilled workers in the construction industry and improve the quality of work.
