In a development that is bound to impact commuters and transporters, toll rates at five major entry points into Mumbai are slated to increase from October. The toll rates were last revised in October 2020. The most affected entry points are Dahisar, LBS Road-Mulund, Eastern Express Highway-Mulund, Airoli Creek Bridge, and Vashi. This adjustment will result in light motor vehicle tolls such as passenger cars increasing by Rs.5, going from the current Rs.40 to Rs.45. Toll collection contracts are expected to continue until September 2027. Mumbai Entry Point Toll (MEPL) anticipates cash flow exceeding a whopping Rs.115 billion by 2027.
