After the success of air services at Jagdalpur’s Maa Danteshwari Airport, the Bastar district administration in Chhattisgarh is planning expansion of the airport, and gearing up to start the survey work for this. Officials concerned have been told to expedite the survey. To strengthen the financial aspect, instructions were also given to allot shops for sale of handicrafts and handlooms, including artefacts of bell metal, bronze art, iron craft, and wood crafts, which would also provide employment to locals. Launched in June 2018, air services at Bastar region were discontinued in November 2018 due to non-fulfilment of contractual promises by Air Odisha.
