Maharashtra allots Rs. 26,000 crore for 170 km ring road project

The proposed 170 km ring road project, aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, has been allotted Rs. 26,000 crore in the state budget. Land acquisition of the project would begin this year. The project comprises two phases — the western ring road which would start at Urse toll plaza in Maval, go through Mulshi and Velhe and end at Kelwade village in Bhor tehsil; and the eastern ring road, which too would start at Urse and go through villages in Maval, Khed, Haveli, Daund before ending at Varve village on Pune-Satara highway (NH-4). The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is slated to execute the project. A measurement survey of land for the western ring road will soon be started.
