Biren Singh, CM, Manipur, laid the foundation for the Rs.17.66 billion Imphal Ring Road Project for which the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide financial assistance of Rs.13.74 billion. The 51.23 km long Imphal Ring Road Project, which was and approved in 2020, will ease traffic congestion and curb pollution in Imphal West district. The most interesting part of the project is that it includes a noise pollution control mechanism, which is the first of its kind in India. Also 9.5 km of the road would be four-lane while 41.5 km would be two-lane with paved shoulders. The road includes an 18 km stretch of Green field with a solar lamp, footpath and cycle lane.
