India and Sri Lanka launched multiple works across the island nation to upgrade the railway network, which will enhance the mobility of goods and services and boost economic activity. The works launched include track rehabilitation work at Galgamuwa Railway Station and commencing upgradation of the railway line including ancillary works from Maho to Anuradhapura. The Ministry of Transport and Highways of Sri Lanka and IRCON signed a contract for design, installation, testing and commissioning of a signalling system.
