Nagpur Smart And Sustainable City Development Corporation (NSSCDCL) has procured three IOT-based robotic scavengers - from Genrobotics, a Keralabased company. Through this ground-breaking technology, it has enhanced the safety and wellbeing of sanitation workers, and also given them a respectable job profile as robot operators. The robotic unit can go up to 10 metres depth and lift rocks, sand, silt, sludge and nonbiodegradable wastes. These robotic scavengers cleaned 8,578 chambers in the last 11 months. It is a good technology to prevent sanitation employees from accessing manholes and to reduce the manual scavenging of drainage systems.
