Perkins Unveils High-Power Engines at Conexpo 2026

Perkins is showcasing a broad portfolio of advanced power solutions at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, highlighting new engines, hybrid systems and digital services designed to improve performance, reliability and productivity for construction equipment manufacturers. Exhibiting at booth S-80229 in the South Hall, the company is presenting technologies aimed at helping OEMs address evolving industry requirements.

Among the key highlights is the launch of the new Perkins 904 Series high-power engine variant, the 904J-E36TTA, which delivers up to 173 hp (129 kW) and 740 Nm torque from a compact 3.6-litre platform. The twin-turbo engine meets global emissions standards including EU Stage V and U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final, and supports renewable fuels such as B20 biodiesel and 100 per cent hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO). It is designed for equipment such as wheel excavators, dump trucks, compactors, backhoe loaders and asphalt pavers.

The company is also displaying its hydrogen hybrid industrial open power unit (IOPU) developed under Project Coeus in partnership with Equipmake and Loughborough University. Based on the Perkins 1200 Series platform, the hybrid system produces a combined output of 508 hp (379 kW) and 1,938 Nm torque using hydrogen as fuel. The solution is designed as a direct replacement for diesel IOPUs and aims to deliver flexible, low-emission power for industrial applications.

Another highlight is the Perkins 2600 Series, a new 13-litre diesel platform offering power ratings from 456 hp to 690 hp with peak torque up to 3,200 Nm. Designed for heavy-duty off-highway applications, the engine platform supports renewable fuels including HVO and biodiesel blends while meeting stringent emissions standards across major global markets.

Perkins is also presenting a battery-electric power unit technical demonstrator, designed as a plug-and-play system that allows OEMs to transition from diesel to electric powertrains without significant redesign. Delivering 130 hp (95.5 kW) and 750 Nm torque, the unit is being demonstrated in a McElroy TracStar 900i pipe fusion machine and has already completed development testing in the UK and U.S.

Alongside hardware innovations, Perkins is highlighting digital connectivity, condition monitoring and lifecycle services aimed at improving engine uptime and reducing total cost of ownership. These include eCommerce platforms for genuine parts, the Hypercare service agreement for customised maintenance support and Platinum Protection coverage that can extend engine protection up to 10 years or 12,000 hours.

Through its latest portfolio, Perkins aims to support equipment manufacturers with flexible power solutions that combine traditional diesel performance with emerging hybrid, electric and alternative-fuel technologies.
