India to modernise rail network in next five years

India will invest $140 bn to modernise its rail network over the next five years in collaboration with UAE-based sovereign wealth funds. Much of this money will go towards the introduction of new technologies and increasing capacities. India has urged the government of UAE to invest in the Indian Railways. The Indian government has allocated $16 billion for safety measures, and $7 billion for energy-efficiency.
