Just Chill

Kirloskar Chillers´s TURBOLEVTM Series chillers uses magnetic bearing centrifugal compressors.

Periodically introducing innovative products and solutions for comfort cooling, process cooling and heating applications, Pune-based engineering conglomerate Kirloskar Group´s Kirloskar Chillers has consistently demonstrated its commitment to customer satisfaction in every aspect of its business. Kirloskar Chillers has a state-of-the-art manufacturing and test facility in Pune.

The company recently announced its TURBOLEVTM Series chillers using magnetic bearing centrifugal compressors. The range of water cooled variable speed centrifugal chillers uses compressors with bearings with the principle of magnetic levitation. Certified in accordance with AHRI 500/590 and AHRI 551/591, these are highly energy-efficient, reliable and extremely quiet.

The range extends from 95 TR to 375 TR, with single and dual compressor configurations. The chillers can easily save 18-20 per cent energy over conventional screw chillers.

What´s more, in the years to come, TURBOLEVTM chillers will be the logical solution for buildings proposing to opt for green building rating in accordance with the existing rating and certification systems.

Benefits

  • Outstanding energy-efficiency: Helps in reducing the carbon footprint.
  • Oil free operation: Operates without lubrication of compressor.
  • Soft start: The module significantly reduces in-rush current at start up.
  • Silent operation makes it desirable for cooling in highly populated areas.
  • Ozone-friendly refrigerant HFC-134a.

The launch
The TURBOLEVTM range launch was attended by luminaries from the HVAC industry including consultants and users from all over India, generating considerable excitement about the new product.

Rahul Kirloskar, Executive Chairman, said, ¨I am proud that Kirloskar Chillers is an established player in the chiller industry with a footprint of more than 3,000 chillers or 500,000 TR. We are proud to have many prestigious names on the list of our customers. We are no longer an India-centric company - our products are exported to Europe, The Middle East and South East Asia as well.¨

Under one roof
Kirloskar chillers is the only Indian chillers company to manufacture centrifugal and screw technologies under one roof. ¨We are proud to be an Indian company and strongly believe that we are capable of delivering world class products. Kirloskar Chillers, as well as the group, invests substantial resources for development of new products that meet the expectations of our customers. We are convinced that magnetic bearing technology is the technology for the future, and will focus our efforts to strengthen the product range in the future. It is our dream to become the No. 1 chiller company in India,¨ said Kirloskar.

Avinash Manjul, Executive Director, said at the launch, ¨It is an exciting day for all of us at Kirloskar Chillers as we unveil the new range of TURBOLEV™ chillers. There is a sense of accomplishment as we cross this major milestone, another feather in our cap.¨

Efficient and reliable
Designed for a wide range of operating conditions including brine applications, Kirloskar Chillers´ products offer superior operating efficiency, design flexibility, unmatched reliability. It is also the first Indian chiller manufacturer to acquire the prestigious AHRI certification for its water-cooled Screw and Centrifugal chillers in 2006; and the first Indian chiller manufacturer to have established AHRI test bed facility in 2008. The screw chillers, available in air-cooled and water-cooled versions, range from 50 TR to 500 TR, and centrifugal chillers range from 250 TR to 2,400 TR.

Dr Prem C Jain, Chairman, Indian Green Building Council, said, ¨India will jump from 25 billion at present to 100 billion sq ft of construction in the next 30 years; a majority of it will be green, and green means high-efficiency. Although majority of these buildings may not need air-conditioners, a substantial proportion will need air-conditioning systems; they will need chillers. I am sure Kirloskar will prosper and provide India that missing link.
