EQT to Acquire Majority Stake in PropertyMe to Drive Global Expansion

EQT has announced that the BPEA Mid-Market Growth Partnership (the “MMG fund”) has agreed to invest in PropertyMe, a leading cloud-based PropTech company operating across Australia and New Zealand. Under the terms of the transaction, EQT will become the majority shareholder, partnering with PropertyMe’s founders, who will retain a significant minority stake.
Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Sydney, PropertyMe offers an all-in-one cloud platform designed to streamline operations for property managers and real estate agencies. Its capabilities span trust accounting, compliance, maintenance tracking and tenant communication. With more than 6,000 agencies using the platform to manage around 1.9 million rental properties, PropertyMe is the largest property management software provider in Australia and New Zealand by number of properties managed. Agencies collectively process nearly AUD 40 billion through the platform each year, including AUD 2.4 billion via MePay, PropertyMe’s integrated payments solution.
Demand for cloud property management software continues to rise as rental housing expands and agencies modernise their systems. PropertyMe has distinguished itself through advanced AI and automation, including AiMe, its built-in AI assistant, alongside its integrated payments system and its next-generation CRM. These strengths position the company for continued growth as digital transformation accelerates across the real estate sector.
EQT plans to support PropertyMe’s next phase by leveraging its digital expertise and network of industry advisors to strengthen innovation and product development. Future enhancements will focus on advanced automation, analytics and integrated payments, as well as expansion into adjacent markets where the platform can deliver additional value.
Nicholas Macksey, Partner in the EQT Private Capital Asia advisory team and Head of the Mid-Market Growth strategy, said: “PropertyMe is a standout company in the PropTech space, and we have been consistently impressed by its innovative platform and strong market position. Its mission-critical software aligns perfectly with EQT’s thematic focus on supporting technology-driven solutions for essential industries. We see significant opportunities to scale the platform, launch new services and expand into additional markets.”
Jacob Van der Wiel, Director in the EQT Private Capital Asia advisory team, added: “We’ve seen firsthand the founders’ deep commitment to PropertyMe’s customers. This focus has been central to establishing PropertyMe as a leading solution in Australia. We are excited to partner with the founders and the wider team to accelerate growth and build on this strong foundation.”
As part of the transaction, PropertyMe’s founders will transition into Board roles in early 2026 while remaining long-term shareholders and strategic advisors. The company has also announced the appointment of Brian Donn as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 2026.
Brian Donn is an accomplished technology leader with more than 25 years of experience scaling high-growth software and services businesses across EMEA and Asia Pacific. He most recently served as SVP & Managing Director of Dayforce Asia Pacific & Japan, where he led a 3,000-person organisation through a record growth period for the global SaaS firm. He brings deep expertise in SaaS strategy, customer experience and global software operations.
Founder Jason Tait said, “Our mission at PropertyMe has always been to modernise property management and empower real estate professionals with best-in-class software. This partnership with EQT comes at the right time as the company enters its next chapter. EQT’s experience with high-growth technology businesses will help us accelerate product development and expand into new markets. After 12 years, the founders felt it was the right moment to transition into Board and advisory roles while remaining deeply committed shareholders. We are thrilled to welcome Brian as CEO and confident that he will lead PropertyMe into a new era.”
Incoming CEO Brian Donn added, “The founders have built a platform that delivers immense value to a diverse customer base. With EQT’s support and the talented PropertyMe team, we are ready to accelerate innovation, elevate customer experience and set a new industry benchmark. The opportunity for growth is substantial, both locally and internationally.”
EQT’s investment builds on its track record of backing companies that lead within vertical software markets, including those serving real estate, corporate services and education. This transaction marks EQT Private Capital Asia’s third platform software investment in Australia and the second in the MMG fund, reinforcing EQT’s position as a leading technology investor in the Asia Pacific region. Since 2022, EQT has invested in 10 companies across the region with a combined enterprise value exceeding USD 7 billion.
Corrs and Deloitte advised EQT, while Pier Capital, Jones Day and Alvarez & Marsal advised PropertyMe on the transaction.
