Buildroid AI Raises USD 2 Million to Launch Construction Robots

Buildroid AI has emerged from stealth with USD 2 million in pre-seed funding led by Tim Draper, marking the launch of its first AI-driven block-laying robot, unveiled at the Big Five Construction Conference in Dubai. The initiative targets productivity challenges in the UAE construction sector, which is projected to grow 5.2 per cent in 2025 and reach USD 130 billion by 2029.
Founded by Slava Solonitsyn, a YC alumnus and former founder of Mighty Buildings, and Anton Glance, founder of Glance Clock, Buildroid initially aims to transform partition wall-building before scaling to wider applications within the UAE’s USD 42.75 billion construction market.
Slava Solonitsyn, CEO and Co-founder, said: “UAE’s construction growth demands solutions to persistent labour shortages and productivity bottlenecks. Construction robots have been around for over a decade, but have had limited success, primarily because they automate narrow skills and require significant additional labour to support them. With the rapid development of AI, it has become possible to bring general-purpose and industrial robots to construction as well.”
Buildroid integrates Building Information Models with AI-based Digital Twin simulations powered by Nvidia Omniverse to optimise robotic workflows. Its simulated block-laying robot is currently being piloted on UAE construction sites and will be supported by Autonomous Mobile Robots for automated material delivery. The system delivers productivity improvements of up to 10x and cost reductions of up to 4x compared with manual labour.
The startup plans to expand into ERP-style orchestration for robotics, enabling simulation-first workflows and large-scale deployment across contractors. The approach differentiates Buildroid from single-purpose robotic providers in the MENA region, where construction is projected to reach USD 401.2 billion by 2030.
Imad Itani, Head of Innovation, ALEC, said: “In line with our robotics strategy, we are piloting Buildroid’s robotic block-laying system and look forward to leveraging their BIM simulation tools to virtually test solutions and de-risk onsite deployment.”
Lead investor Tim Draper said the platform offers scalable automation supported by skilled operators, combining multiple robotic technologies validated through BIM-based simulations.
The funding will be used to expand pilot programmes, advance simulation and autonomous capabilities, and accelerate commercial rollouts. Buildroid plans to deploy its first commercially available AI-powered robotics teams in Q2 next year through partnerships with major contractors.

RBI Rate Cut Boosts Confidence Across Housing Market

Industry Context and Market DynamicsThe real estate industry has welcomed the RBI’s rate cut as a timely boost to affordability and demand. With home prices having risen steadily across major markets, even a marginal reduction in interest rates meaningfully strengthens purchasing power, especially for first-time and mid-income buyers.Ashish Jerath, President – Sales & Marketing, Smartworld Developers, observes:“The RBI’s 25-basis-point cut, bringing the repo rate down to 5.25%, is a timely boost for the real estate sector. Lower interest rates reduce borrowing costs, enabling homeb..

BMC Resumes Rs 170 Billion Road Works, Targets 80 per cent By Jan 2026

Following the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon in October, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has restarted work on 645 roads—covering 297.49 kilometres—under its large-scale concretisation programme. Data shows that more than 60 per cent of the resumed works are located in the western suburbs. Officials said the civic body aims to complete concretisation on 80 per cent of the roads where fresh work has begun by January 2026. Launched in 2022, the Rs 170 billion project seeks to concretise 700 kilometres of roads across Mumbai. All civil works were halted during the monsoon ..

India Pushes Digital Shift In Urban Land Mapping

The Department of Land Resources (DoLR) under the Ministry of Rural Development has convened a National Symposium on NAKSHA – the National Geospatial Knowledge-based Land Survey of Urban Habitations – to advance India’s transition to modern, technology-driven land mapping. Speaking at the inaugural session, Secretary Manoj Joshi underscored the urgent need to move revenue departments away from outdated, tape-based methods and rough hand-drawn sketches. He stressed that adopting latitude–longitude-based digital mapping and GIS-linked registration systems is essential for economic stabi..
