KP Group Launches Waterless Solar Cleaning Robot at REI Expo

KP Group's KPI Green OMS has launched the SR 2000 V3.0, a waterless robotic solar panel cleaning system designed for single-axis tracker and fixed-tilt solar power plants, at the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2026 in Greater Noida. The robot aims to improve solar plant efficiency while reducing water consumption and maintenance requirements.

Designed to address dust accumulation on solar modules, particularly in dry and remote locations, the SR 2000 V3.0 uses a UV-resistant polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) brush operating at 130 rpm. According to the company, the system achieves a cleaning efficiency of 99.5 per cent while maintaining noise levels below 60 dB.

The robot is designed for single-axis solar trackers, featuring a ±25-degree body twist and 20 mm module undulation tolerance to accommodate tracker movement. Its four-wheel-drive system enables it to climb slopes of 25–30 degrees and operate on terrain slopes of up to 10 degrees. The system is also compatible with fixed-tilt solar installations.

The SR 2000 V3.0 can clean up to 3,600 modules or cover approximately 6,000 metres on a single charge, operating at a cleaning speed of 18–20 metres per minute. It uses a 24 V lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with self-charging capability and a recharge time of approximately six hours.

For remote monitoring and control, the robot supports LoRa, LoRaWAN and 4G connectivity through Modbus RTU/TCP communication protocols.

Engineered for challenging operating environments, the robot features IP65 protection and C5 corrosion resistance. It can operate in temperatures ranging from −20°C to 60°C and withstand winds of up to 15 m/s during operation. When docked with its mechanical locking system engaged, it can withstand wind speeds of up to 55 m/s.

Measuring 2,700 mm × 450 mm × 350 mm and weighing 45 kg, the robot has a stated design life of 20 years. The company also reports ISO, BIS and UL certifications and compatibility with tracker systems from NEXTracker, GameChange Solar and Arctech, among others.

Faruk G Patel, Chairman and Managing Director, KP Group, said, "Solar capacity is growing rapidly across India, and keeping plants performing at their best over decades matters as much as building them. Dust is a constant challenge, and water is not always available where plants are located. With the SR 2000 V3.0, we have built a waterless, intelligent robot designed specifically for trackers, helping plant owners keep modules clean, protect generation, and reduce the effort of routine upkeep. Launching it at REI Expo 2026 reflects our commitment to practical, reliable technology for India's renewable energy sector."

The launch strengthens KP Group's solar operations and maintenance portfolio, with a focus on automated cleaning, water conservation and long-term performance of utility-scale solar installations.
