Constro 2014

Constro is one of the largest events catering to the infrastructure and civil engineering industry in India.

Venue: Agriculture College Ground, Pune
Date: February 13-16, 2014
Organiser: Pune Construction Engineering Research Foundation (PCERF)

The 13th edition of Constro is a four-day mega event that will provide a platform for national and international manufacturers to showcase construction machinery, materials and projects, and to interact with consumers directly. Constro 2014 is the flagship event organised by PCERF in Pune and has been credited as one of the largest events for the infrastructure and civil engineering industries in India.

According to Sharad Bavadekar, Chairman, Constro 2014, ´Constro has been present in India for over a decade and the aim of the event is to educate and create awareness about new technologies and innovations in the construction industry. This initiative will help the construction industry to grow at large.´

An overview
Over the years, Constro has transformed into an international event and is all set to attract larger participation from overseas. The event has already received confirmation from two countries - China and Germany. The themes for Constro 2014 are ´Pre-Engineered Construction Techniques´ and ´Intelligent Electrical Solutions.´ ´We live in a world of cut throat competition where time means money,´ says Bavadekar. ´Hence, PEB fulfils four important factors of the project lifecycle: resources, time, cost and quality.´ He adds, ´Recently, many new developments have occurred in the field of electrical lighting, switching, protection and automation. This exhibition will provide information with product demos for all potential buyers and update them on energy-efficient solutions. It will also display the latest in building automation and electrical installation keeping in mind the demand for intelligent electrical solutions in developing smart homes.´ Hence, these themes have been selected to promote and create awareness about upcoming technologies in the construction industry.

Mapping the event
With an expected footfall of about 3-4 lakh visitors and about 300 exhibitors, Constro 2014 will be held across a total exhibition area of 20,255 sq m. It will also include 300 stalls and seven pavilions along with an open area for display of construction machinery.

Additionally, Constro 2014 will feature various seminars and panel discussions on precast concrete technology, residential and commercial buildings, steel PEB technology and intelligent electrical solutions. Other activities include a construction safety award and safety demonstrations at activity centres. As Bavadekar says, ôThe event is respected within the construction industry and people have been exhibiting with us time and again as they see value in it.´

The event has also arranged a central park to promote its themes, Pre-Engineered Construction Technology and Intelligent Electrical Solutions. The park is a large open space measuring about 24 m + 100 m to promote and showcase technologies and end products of the exhibition. This space will be transformed into a ´Pre-Fab Nagar´, a theme park that will display a variety of pre-engineered factory manufactured products in a layout of six sectors gradually leading from heavy building components to lightweight structural systems.
