K Vijay, Managing Director, Ajax Fiori Engineering (I) Pvt Ltd, is an alumnus of IIT Chennai. Passionate about pursuing a career in Core Engineering, he joined Larsen & Toubro as a Design Engineer and was part of the team that established L&T´s hydraulic excavator plant in Bengaluru, then the first-of-its-kind in the country. Having the entrepreneurial bug, Vijay eventually branched to co-found Ajax Fiori, which has gone from strength to strength to become one of the country´s leading solutions provider for concreting needs. From manufacturing its first self loading concrete mixer in 1993, the company has recently reached the significant milestone of delivering its 5000th machine, under Vijay´s leadership. The initial years were a challenge for Vijay, when self-loading mixers was still a nascent concept and with the infrastructure industry mired in a slump in the mid 90´s. Vijay strongly espouses the central role played in ensuring customer satisfaction as a key to his success. He has established a work ethic, which not only focuses on manufacturing world-class products but also provides timely and effective product support. Vijay also heads the Technical Panel of ICEMA and is working towards the development and growth of the construction equipment industry. A leader, truly passionate about what he does, Vijay has a vision to leave his own indelible imprint in making India one of the leading global economies.
