Bank of Maharashtra Expands AI-led MSME Lending Assessment

Bank of Maharashtra has selected fintech company ScoreMe Solutions to support its digital lending programme across four areas, including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML)-based underwriting for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The initiative forms part of the public sector lender’s objectives under the EASE 9.0 programme.

The mandate also covers applicants who discontinue the loan application process, new customer lifecycle management and omnichannel lending journeys. The companies announced the partnership during Global FinTech Fest 2026 in Mumbai, with the programme intended to strengthen the bank’s digital lending capabilities.

Under the arrangement, AI and ML tools will support MSME credit assessment through data and analytics. Credit decisions will continue to operate within the bank’s existing policies and approval framework, while human review will remain part of the process and governance controls will be retained.

The bank will use technology to identify the stages at which applicants abandon loan applications. This is intended to help locate friction in the digital lending process and improve the experience for prospective borrowers without altering the bank’s established approval requirements.

The customer lifecycle and omnichannel components will connect different stages and channels across the lending process. The companies said the combined approach would bring underwriting, application drop-off management, customer lifecycle management and omnichannel processes within a coordinated digital framework.

ScoreMe provides technology solutions for digital lending and credit decisioning to banks and financial institutions. Bank of Maharashtra’s chief general manager for information technology, Devdatta V Rokade, and chief technology officer, Pradeep Kumar Srivastava, said the collaboration would focus on digital lending, MSME underwriting and customer journey management while maintaining operational controls.
