Bengaluru Pink Line Approval Expected Within Five Days

Passenger operations on the elevated section of Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Pink Line are expected to receive approval within the next four to five days, while trial runs on the K.R. Puram-Central Silk Board stretch of the Blue Line are scheduled to begin by the end of October. The developments were announced after Krishna Byre Gowda, Minister for Greater Bengaluru Development, reviewed the progress of metro construction in the city.

The Minister directed officials to accelerate work on the delayed Blue Line corridor connecting K.R. Puram with Hebbal and Kempegowda International Airport. The corridor forms part of the city’s broader metro expansion programme and is intended to improve connections between eastern Bengaluru, northern parts of the city and the airport.

The State government has written to the Union government and the Ministers concerned, seeking an early decision on the inauguration date for the Pink Line section. The approval is required before passenger services can begin on the elevated stretch, which is being prepared for partial opening ahead of the full corridor.

The Blue Line trial runs on the K.R. Puram-Central Silk Board section will be an important step before safety checks and other statutory clearances. The section is expected to support connectivity along the busy eastern and southeastern parts of Bengaluru, where road traffic has increased significantly.

Officials are also working to address delays on the remaining Blue Line corridor towards Hebbal and Kempegowda International Airport. The review focused on construction progress and the need to maintain momentum across the delayed packages. Further decisions on the operational schedule will depend on approvals, testing and completion of the required procedures.
