BMTC Plans Five Feeder Routes for Bengaluru’s Pink Line

The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation has proposed five dedicated feeder bus routes for stations on the upcoming Pink Line Metro. The services are intended to connect Metro stations with residential areas, hospitals and other activity centres across Hulimavu, Tavarekere, Jayadeva Hospital, JP Nagar and Uttarahalli.

The proposed network will use 30 buses to operate 415 trips daily, with services scheduled at 10-minute intervals. BMTC has also proposed deploying compact 7-metre buses to improve access on narrower roads and provide connections in areas that may be difficult for larger vehicles to serve.

The routes include MF-18 J, connecting Jayadeva Hospital Metro Station with Uttarahalli, and MF-18 JT, linking Jayadeva Hospital with Tavarekere Metro Station. MF-18 JP will operate as a ring route via IIMB Metro Station, while MF-22 HS will connect Hulimavu Metro Station with Singasandra.

The fifth service, MF-18 T, will form a ring route connecting Tavarekere Metro Station through Jayanagar and Banashankari. Together, the routes are designed to provide first- and last-mile links to key stations on the Pink Line and improve access to surrounding neighbourhoods and institutions.

BMTC and the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation also plan to provide real-time bus arrival information at Pink Line stations through application programming interface-based data integration. The information is intended to help passengers plan onward journeys and coordinate transfers between Metro and bus services.

BMTC currently operates 71 feeder bus services connecting 54 Metro stations on the Green, Purple and Yellow lines. Three existing feeder services already connect four Pink Line stations: Jayadeva Hospital, IIMB, JP Nagar 4th Phase and Hulimavu. The corporation also operates 545 trips on routes extending beyond Kalena Agrahara, the Pink Line’s terminal station.

Cement Prices Likely to Rise Rs. 10-15 per Bag from Mid-October

Cement manufacturers in India are likely to raise prices by Rs. 10-15 per bag from mid-October, as they seek to offset persistent increases in power and fuel costs. Emkay Research said its channel checks indicated a high probability of an increase from October 12, supported by the start of the busy construction season and favourable demand-supply conditions. The sector had implemented similar rate adjustments of Rs. 10-15 per bag during the first quarter, but the increases were insufficient to cover higher operating costs. Prices also softened during July and August because of the monsoon, wid..
