CM Bhupendra Patel Unveils Rs 6.16 Bn Development Projects for Vadodara

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced Rs 616.54 crore worth of development projects for Vadodara City during the inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremony organized by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation. Among the key initiatives is the construction of a new overbridge to replace the Alkapuri railway underpass, aimed at addressing a major city concern.

The CM unveiled a plaque marking the launch of these projects during the Vikas Utsav, in the presence of Chief Whip Balkrishna Shukla and other local leaders. The projects span various sectors, including water supply, street lighting, housing, drainage systems, roads, bridges, and solid waste management. Additionally, new vehicles dedicated to sanitation and civic services were flagged off by the Chief Minister.

Reflecting on Vadodara’s recent milestones, including hosting the Prime Minister of India and the Prime Minister of Spain, the CM emphasized that Vadodara is positioning itself globally for development. He stated that the city is one of the ten in Gujarat being upgraded with world-class infrastructure.

CM Patel highlighted the sharp increase in Gujarat's urban development budget, which has risen from Rs 750 crore annually to Rs 21,916 crore this year. This contrast reflects the current government's focus on large-scale development compared to the previous era, where projects were much smaller. He also revealed that Rs 68 crore has been allocated for the city's outgrowth areas, alongside Rs 756 crore for municipal urban projects, ensuring no financial shortages for Vadodara’s progress.

The CM stressed that urbanization, as envisioned by the Prime Minister, should be seen as an opportunity for growth, and encouraged Vadodara to aim for "Viksit Vadodara" as part of the larger national goal of "Viksit Bharat by 2047." He urged the city to focus on returns that exceed investments.

Patel also praised the city's cleanliness initiatives, noting how Vadodara has embraced cleanliness as a culture. He urged citizens to uphold this standard and contribute to maintaining the city’s cleanliness.

Chief Whip Balkrishna Shukla reiterated the commitment to preserving Vadodara’s cultural heritage while advancing its development. He noted that the city celebrates Vikas Utsav every few months, with the CM’s participation inspiring local leaders and citizens alike.

During the event, keys to new homes were handed over to beneficiaries of the Awas Yojana. Mayor Pinky Soni welcomed the gathering, expressing gratitude for the Chief Minister's unwavering support for Vadodara’s growth.
