Gati Shakti digital twin to enhance greenfield & brownfield projects

The newly launched geospatial platform under the PM Gati Shakti Master Plan will support both the planning of new projects and the upgrade and expansion of existing infrastructure.

According to Surendra Ahirwar, Joint Secretary of Logistics & Trade at the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, “The PM Gati Shakti Master Plan is a geospatial platform that contains comprehensive data about the country’s infrastructure assets. It includes details related to any asset and its attributes, as major infrastructure assets have been mapped using geospatial coordinates.”

This data on existing projects is crucial for planning future initiatives, and the digital twin will be employed for project expansions, helping to identify and address any infrastructure gaps.

Ahirwar emphasised that one of the primary challenges in implementing PM Gati Shakti is ensuring last-mile connectivity, and the digital twin technology will play a vital role in overcoming this challenge.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently stated that the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (PMGS-NMP) represents a transformative initiative designed to revolutionize India’s infrastructure, leading to faster and more efficient development across various sectors.

Modi noted that PM Gati Shakti is a progressive approach to economic growth and sustainable development, driven by seven key engines: railways, roads, ports, waterways, airports, mass transport, and logistics infrastructure. This comprehensive integration of various stakeholders has enhanced logistics, minimized delays, and created new opportunities.

He added, “Thanks to Gati Shakti, India is accelerating its vision for a developed Bharat, promoting progress, entrepreneurship, and innovation.”

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal highlighted that by optimizing logistics and enhancing connectivity, this groundbreaking initiative ensures quicker and more efficient project execution.
