Godavari Biorefineries, Synthomer Partner on Bio-Based Monomers

Godavari Biorefineries Limited (GBL) has recently entered into a strategic partnership with Synthomer to develop bio-based alternatives to existing fossil-based monomers, responding to growing customer demand for more sustainable raw materials. The collaboration reinforces GBL’s focus on innovation, sustainability and customer-centric, lower-carbon solutions.
Under the partnership, Synthomer is commercialising bio-based butyl acrylate using bio-based butanol produced by GBL, supporting the chemical industry’s transition towards renewable feedstocks and reduced carbon footprints across the value chain.

Chris Brown, Vice President of ESG at Synthomer, noted that the partnership enables the company to offer customers lower-carbon alternatives to fossil-based monomers, helping them meet emissions targets while strengthening the resilience of its monomers portfolio to address evolving customer needs.
