Haryana CM sites development goals

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has expressed his confidence in the state's potential to achieve significant development surpassing other states by 2047. Addressing the state-level Independence Day event in Fatehabad, Khattar highlighted Haryana's contribution to India's freedom struggle and the valour displayed by its soldiers during various conflicts. He paid tribute to fallen heroes and recognized their sacrifices for the nation's betterment.

Khattar emphasized the importance of the 'Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' and 'Meri Maati-Mera Desh' campaigns, which aim to commemorate the sacrifices of freedom fighters and collect soil from all over the country. The Chief Minister lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives, such as the abrogation of Article 370 and the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

He outlined various developmental achievements, including the Antyodaya Arogya Varsh, providing free healthcare and Ayushman Bharat-Chirayu cards to around 8.5 million underprivileged individuals. Khattar highlighted efforts to provide clean drinking water, promote organic farming, and enhance sports infrastructure to nurture young athletes. He noted that Haryana has become a preferred destination for investors due to its business-friendly policies and ease of doing business initiatives.

Additionally, Khattar underlined women's participation in development, with 50% representation in Panchayati Raj Institutions and initiatives for their economic and educational advancement. He emphasized technology-driven governance, enabling direct benefit transfers, transparency, and accessibility to government schemes.

Khattar urged unity among the people, transcending social and religious divisions, while encouraging them to embrace Haryana's cultural heritage. The event showcased patriotic and cultural performances by school children, honouring freedom fighters, soldiers, and achievers. The Chief Minister also praised police personnel for their skills, including bike stunts and horse riding. Khattar's speech conveyed a vision for Haryana's holistic progress, with a focus on development, inclusivity, and cultural harmony.

Implementation Status of Jal Jeevan Mission

Since August 2019 the Government has implemented Jal Jeevan Mission to provide assured potable water through household tap connections in rural India. At the start of the mission only 32.3 million (mn) rural households, representing 16.7 per cent, were reported to have tap water connections.
