IHG Signs Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera With UHM India

IHG Hotels and Resorts (IHG) has signed a franchise agreement for Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera, accelerating the rollout of its newest midscale conversion brand in India. The 40-key hotel is scheduled to open in 2029 and will be developed by Devpriya Buildcon and managed by United Hospitality Management India (UHM India), a long standing third party operator for IHG in the country. The signing further strengthens the partnership between IHG and UHM India as they expand branded hospitality offerings across high growth destinations.

Garner is described as IHG's global fastest scaling brand, focused on essentials that matter to value conscious travellers. The brand aims to deliver easy going stays with a convenient location, a sound night's sleep and a good breakfast while leveraging the quality standards, enterprise systems and rewards ecosystem of IHG. Located at the Motera Sabarmati junction in north Ahmedabad, the hotel is close to key demand drivers including Narendra Modi Stadium, the Sabarmati bullet train hub and nearby corporate districts.

UHM India will provide operational expertise, owner focused management solutions and local operating experience to support the brand conversion and asset performance. The signing represents the first Garner property in Ahmedabad and reflects owner confidence in a model that enables conversions of existing hotels. The hotel will form part of a mixed use development offering retail, banquet and restaurant facilities as well as a hospital, creating an integrated proposition for guests.

Ahmedabad is cited as a leading economic and industrial centre with strengths across pharmaceuticals, textiles, information technology and infrastructure, and continued investment in sports and transport projects is supporting visitor demand. The signing adds Garner to IHG's Ahmedabad portfolio which includes Crowne Plaza Ahmedabad City Centre and Holiday Inn Express Ahmedabad Prahlad Nagar, with Holiday Inn Ahmedabad in the pipeline. IHG currently operates 53 hotels across six brands in India and reports a strong pipeline of 110 hotels due to open in the next three to five years.
