Jupiter Wagons Wins Rs. 3.24 bn ACT2 Wagon Orders from Private Firms

Jupiter Wagons has secured private-sector orders worth more than Rs. 3.24 bn from GATX India and Chetak International for its ACT2 automobile carrier wagons. The company announced the orders on 2 November 2026, saying the contracts would strengthen its business with private wagon-leasing and logistics operators.

GATX India has issued a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the manufacture and supply of 10 rakes comprising 270 ACT2 wagons. The LOI is valued at Rs. 2.15 bn and covers the production and delivery of the company’s new-design automobile carrier platform.

Chetak International has separately placed an order for five rakes, comprising 135 ACT2 wagons. The contract is valued at Rs. 1.09 bn, taking the combined requirement from the two private customers to 15 rakes and 405 wagons.

Jupiter Wagons said the orders reflected rising demand for the ACT2 platform among private wagon-leasing and logistics companies. The new business complements its Indian Railways operations, including a recent order worth Rs. 11.4 bn from the Ministry of Railways for 2,583 wagons.

The company said demand was broad-based across government and private-sector customers, supporting visibility for future growth. It remains focused on expanding capacity and improving execution to meet requirements in India’s rail freight and logistics market, while maintaining a balanced order book across customer segments. The latest contracts also reinforce its presence in automobile transportation by rail, where specialised carrier wagons are used to move vehicles efficiently over long distances.
