Warangal Member of Parliament Kadiyam Kavya has urged the establishment of a separate railway division based at Kazipet and submitted a representation to the South Central Railway (SCR) general manager at the headquarters in Secunderabad. She highlighted Kazipet's role as a major railway hub and argued that the junction has not seen development commensurate with its strategic importance. The representative action aimed to press for administrative reorganisation to address local operational and developmental needs. She noted that creation of an independent Kazipet division has been a long standing demand of railway employees, passengers and freight operators from the erstwhile Warangal region. The MP urged the SCR general manager to examine the proposal amid the proposed reorganisation of railway zones and divisions. In support of the call she identified freight corridors such as Ballarshah-Kazipet, Kazipet-Vijayawada, Kazipet-Karimnagar and Dornakal-Manuguru as critical for regional logistics. Local representatives and industry groups have backed the move. She argued that the region serves as a major hub for transportation of coal, cement, rice, chilli, granite and fertilisers and that a distinct administrative division would ease the growing traffic and administrative burden on the Secunderabad division. The proposal was framed to accelerate development in the Kazipet region by focusing on infrastructure upgrades and passenger amenities. Officials and stakeholders were urged to consider benefits to freight transportation and local economic activity. The MP maintained that a separate division could strengthen railway infrastructure, improve passenger services and enhance freight handling capacity to meet regional demand. She emphasised the need for a detailed assessment of traffic patterns, resource allocation and potential investment to ensure operational viability. The representation is expected to form part of ongoing consultations within the SCR and with national railway authorities. She also requested clear timelines for any transition to limit disruption to services.
