Maharashtra Unveils Reforms For MSEs And Social Welfare

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday announced a series of policy reforms aimed at empowering micro and small enterprises (MSEs), strengthening industries, and advancing social welfare initiatives across the state.
At a high-level meeting in Mumbai, Fadnavis said the long-standing requirement for Non-Agriculture (NA) land use permission for MSEs has been relaxed. The change will save entrepreneurs considerable time and enable them to begin operations without procedural delays.
“These reforms are designed to make life easier for citizens and ensure faster industrial growth. Every policy must focus on long-term social welfare and the prosperity of our state,” Fadnavis said after the meeting.
The reforms also call for the development of large industrial estates into ‘Industrial Townships’, complete with housing and civic amenities for workers and their families. This initiative aims to improve living standards while raising productivity.
On the welfare front, the government is introducing a Palliative Care Policy for cancer patients in advanced stages. The scheme seeks to provide timely access to essential medicines to reduce symptoms and pain, offering relief to patients and families.
For businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, a new online portal with automated systems will be launched to ensure timely payment of government dues. The platform will enhance transparency, track payments, and improve accountability in transactions with service providers.
Fadnavis stressed that Maharashtra’s policies are designed to balance economic growth with social development. “Through focused reforms, we will enhance competitiveness, drive inclusive development, and strengthen Maharashtra’s position as a leading industrial state,” he said.
