Piyush Goyal Reviews Export Performance with Industry Leaders

The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, chaired a high-level meeting with Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) and Industry Associations at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, to review India’s export performance and discuss strategies for further strengthening the country’s trade ecosystem.

The meeting saw participation from senior officials of the Department of Commerce, Department of Revenue, and Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), along with representatives from leading Export Promotion Councils and Industry Associations.

During the session, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and the Department of Commerce presented detailed overviews of key reforms implemented during the first half of FY 2025–26. The presentations also outlined upcoming policy measures designed to boost exports and streamline trade processes.

Deliberations centered around current industry challenges, progress in export diversification, and stakeholder perspectives on strengthening India’s global trade presence. Participants acknowledged the Ministry’s proactive efforts in improving export facilitation, promoting competitiveness, and driving innovation across sectors.

Leaders from various organizations—including FIEO, EPCH, CII, FICCI, PHDCCI, SIAM, ASSOCHAM, NASSCOM, and industry segments such as Textiles, Apparel, Engineering, Gems & Jewellery, Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, Telecom, Leather, and Services—commended the government’s continued engagement and reforms to enhance export growth and market access.

Reaffirming the Government’s commitment to a supportive trade environment, Shri Piyush Goyal emphasized that ongoing initiatives for ease of doing business, logistics efficiency, and policy simplification are key to empowering Indian exporters and expanding their global footprint.

Kochi Metro Records 1.375 mn Rise In Passengers In FY26

Kochi Metro recorded a marginal rise in ridership in the financial year 2025-26, carrying 1.375 mn more passengers than in the previous year.
