PM Modi Unveils Rs 120 Billion Projects in Bihar, Bengal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bihar and West Bengal on Friday to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for a series of developmental initiatives totalling over Rs 120 billion.
The projects include Rs 72 billion in Bihar and Rs 50 billion in West Bengal, with a focus on boosting connectivity, infrastructure, employment, rural livelihoods and digital growth. The Prime Minister will also address public gatherings in Motihari (Bihar) and Durgapur (West Bengal).
In Bihar, PM Modi will launch initiatives across sectors including railways, roads, information technology, fisheries and rural development. He will also flag off four Amrit Bharat Express trains, linking Patna, Motihari, Darbhanga and Malda Town to key northern cities such as Delhi and Lucknow.
Significant railway projects include new automatic signalling on the Samastipur–Bachhwara line and the doubling of the Darbhanga–Thalwara and Samastipur–Rambhadrapur sections, collectively worth Rs 5.8 billion.
He will also lay the foundation stone for major railway upgrades including a Vande Bharat maintenance facility at Patliputra and the doubling of the Darbhanga–Narkatiaganj line, with investments totalling Rs 40.8 billion.
In terms of road infrastructure, the Prime Minister will launch the four-laning of the Ara bypass and the Parariya–Mohania stretch of NH-319, with a combined outlay of Rs 8.2 billion, enhancing connectivity to the Delhi–Kolkata Golden Quadrilateral.
To advance Bihar’s digital economy, PM Modi will inaugurate a Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) centre in Darbhanga and an incubation facility in Patna, aimed at supporting start-ups and promoting IT/ITES exports.
He will also unveil fisheries infrastructure under the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana, including hatcheries, aquaculture units and fish feed mills.
In West Bengal, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited’s City Gas Distribution project in Bankura and Purulia, valued at Rs 19.5 billion.
