Radisson Hotel Group Outlines India Growth Roadmap Towards 500 Hotels

Radisson Hotel Group has outlined its India growth strategy, centred on expanding its national presence, strengthening local relevance and creating value for hotel owners. The strategy was presented by Nikhil Sharma, managing director and chief operating officer, South Asia, at a Brand Leadership Showcase during the 10th BW Hotelier Indian Hospitality Summit and Awards in New Delhi.

The two-day summit, hosted at JW Marriott New Delhi Aerocity, is examining the opportunities and challenges shaping India’s hospitality sector. Sharma said Radisson’s framework was built around scale, portfolio choices, relevant brands, demand and revenue management, people, reputation, cost advantage and technology as the group works towards a 500-hotel network in the country.

The group’s approach combines global capabilities with local market understanding and owner value. Its commercial strategy involves generating demand through global and local campaigns, converting that demand through direct channels and brand applications, and increasing returns through revenue management, upselling and cross-selling. Operational discipline, supported by systems and real-time tools, is intended to improve productivity, guest consistency and returns for owners.

Radisson is also developing its talent pipeline through initiatives with THSC and Job Plus across eight states. These programmes have reached more than 850 young people, with 571 trained and certified and around 500 placed, according to the company. Sharma also cited the group’s Hatgad property as an example of how hotels can support employment, events and destination development beyond major metropolitan markets.

The showcase emphasised the importance of first-mover advantage and deep local roots as domestic travel expands beyond established urban centres. Radisson said scalable operating models, technology and partnerships with independent owners would remain important to delivering consistent guest experiences and sustainable growth. The summit includes over 25 sessions featuring hospitality leaders and industry experts discussing the sector’s evolution.
