Rs 14.8 billion transport hub planned in Dahisar to cut emissions

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched a Rs 14.8 billion project to build a modern transport, commercial, and entertainment hub in Mumbai’s Dahisar. Expected to be completed within three years from the work order’s issuance, the hub is designed to boost connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and support economic growth.

This 18,000-square-metre facility will provide a terminal for intercity buses, especially those from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and other northern regions, helping ease traffic flow within Mumbai by redirecting buses away from busy freeways. Along with transport functions, the hub will include hotels, eateries, ticketing facilities, and connections for private vehicles and the metro, creating a convenient transit and relaxation space for travellers.

The hub also aims to offer recreational and commercial areas to promote local employment and generate revenue. Abhijit Bangar, BMC’s additional municipal commissioner, emphasized the hub’s dual role in enhancing travel convenience and reducing emissions, noting that it will bring new commercial opportunities and public amenities to the area.
