Chung Kisun Elevated to Chairman of HD Hyundai

HD Hyundai has promoted Executive Vice Chairman Chung Kisun to Chairman as part of its latest executive appointments. 

Chairman Chung, who holds a degree in Economics from Yonsei University and an MBA from Stanford University, began his career in 2009 with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ Finance Team. Over the years, he has held key roles including Head of Management Support at HD Hyundai, Head of Ship Sales at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, and CEO of HD Hyundai Marine Solution. 

He currently serves as CEO of HD Hyundai, the group’s holding company, and HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the intermediate holding company for the shipbuilding division. In his new role, he will also serve as Co-CEO of HD Hyundai XiteSolution to drive recovery in the construction equipment business and identify new growth opportunities. 

Chung founded HD Hyundai Marine Solution in 2016, developing it into a core group business with a market capitalisation of KRW 11 trillion. In 2021, he led the acquisition of Doosan Infracore, further strengthening the group’s construction equipment portfolio. His leadership has focused on fostering innovation through AI, digital transformation, and eco-friendly technologies while bolstering collaboration with the U.S. shipbuilding sector.
