Hisense Opens First India Manufacturing Plant at Sri City

Hisense has inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in India at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, through a joint venture with Epack Manufacturing Technologies Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Epack Durable Limited.
The 10-acre facility, developed with an investment exceeding USD 30 million, is located within Epack Durable’s industrial park at Sri City and will commence commercial production from February 2026. Once fully operational, the plant will manufacture Room Air Conditioners (RACs) exclusively for Hisense India, accounting for 100 per cent of the brand’s domestic RAC output and strengthening its localisation strategy.
Phase 1 of the facility is dedicated to air conditioner production, with an initial installed capacity of 0.75 million units annually. The plant will manufacture Hisense’s flagship product lines, including the F-Series, Eco Series, Intelli Perla Series and the upcoming Intelli Pro Series. Phase 2, scheduled for Q2 FY27, will expand operations to washing machines, while Phase 3 in Q3 FY27 will add LED television production.
The facility currently employs around 500 people, with plans to scale to nearly 1,500 employees over the next 12–24 months. The plant will cater to both domestic and export markets, enabling improved supply-chain responsiveness and reduced import dependence.
Commenting on the inauguration, Pankaj Rana, CEO, Hisense India, said the facility marks a pivotal step in strengthening local production capabilities and aligning with the Government of India’s Make in India initiative. Ajay Singhania, Managing Director & CEO, Epack Durable, said the collaboration reflects the integration of Hisense’s technology with Epack’s manufacturing expertise, reinforcing India’s position as a global production base for consumer durables.
With this investment, Hisense transitions from an import-led model to a fully integrated local manufacturing presence, positioning itself for long-term expansion in India’s consumer electronics and home appliances market.
