Larsen & Toubro Wins Major Orders for Metals and Minerals

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said its Metals and Minerals business secured multiple orders from leading domestic metals and mining companies, reinforcing its leadership in delivering engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) solutions across the metals and minerals value chain. One award came from a public sector company that is the country's largest iron ore producer and is pursuing an expansion programme to achieve 100 million tonnes per annum (mn t per annum) of iron ore production capacity by 2030. As part of that plan the company has appointed L&T to execute Package BE-01C of an 18 mn t per annum Iron Ore Handling Plant in Chhattisgarh.

The scope of the package covers design and engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of a downhill conveyor system, screening plant, stockpile and yard equipment together with a Rapid Wagon Loading System and associated auxiliaries. The work is intended to enhance material movement efficiency and support the wider logistics chain serving the mining complex. L&T noted that delivering integrated systems of this nature requires coordination across engineering disciplines and supply chains.

A second order has been received from another public sector Navratna company for packages related to the expansion of a steel plant in West Bengal from two point five million tonnes per annum to seven point one million tonnes per annum. L&T secured various Design and Build and Balance of Plant packages for that expansion, covering detailed engineering, procurement and construction activities. The company said these awards span mining, ferrous and non?ferrous sectors and reflect sustained customer confidence in its project execution capabilities.

L&T also secured an EPC order from a major private metals producer for a zinc processing plant, with scope covering design, procurement, installation, commissioning and site services. The company said its chairman described the wins as reaffirming enduring leadership and customer trust in delivering large complex projects. Senior management emphasised continued commitment to quality, safety and sustainability as the projects progress.
