The proposed extension plan of the Mysore city airport seems to be stalled, as the underpass to pave way for runway extension and to obviate the need for land acquisition, has not yet been approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). A team from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) had conducted a study, but the final report is awaited. The expansion of Mysore airport hinges on its runway extension from 1,740 m at present to nearly 2,400 m.
