Construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T), under its CEO and Managing Director SN Subrahmanyan, has bagged a contract from GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL) for airport expansion works. The GMR Infrastructure subsidiary, GHIAL has issued a LoI for the construction of terminal building and airside infrastructure through international competitive bidding on L1 basis for Rs 30.28 billion to L&T, and to Megawide Construction Corporation for Rs 9.8 billion. With the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport functioning at its full capacity, the airport seeks expansion, aiming to achieve 34 million annual passengers throughput from its current design capacity of 12 million annual passengers. The expansion work is expected to be completed within 42 months from the date of award. This new airport work order is yet another feather to L&T's cap full of strong work orders; with Subrahmanyan's efforts in driving growth for L&T knowing no bound.
