Ayodhya airport to start domestic flights in Nov

The Ayodhya International Airport, officially known as Maryada Purushottam Shriram International Airport, is gearing up to initiate domestic flights in November this year. According to Vinod Kumar, the Director of Ayodhya Airport, the first phase of airport construction is anticipated to conclude by October, paving the way for operational readiness.

As of now, the terminal building's construction has reached 25% completion, and the airport authorities are diligently working towards its swift finalization. The 2,200-meter-long runway has already been successfully constructed. In the subsequent phases of development, the runway will be extended to 3,125 meters in the second phase and further to 3,750 meters in the third phase. International flights are expected to commence upon the completion of the third phase.

Kumar disclosed that the airport authorities will apply to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for flight commencement permission once the terminal building is fully completed in October. The DGCA will conduct inspections and subsequently grant the necessary approvals to initiate flights.

The initial budget allocated for the airport's first phase of construction amounts to Rs 321 crore, with additional funding required for the subsequent phases. The airport is strategically positioned on 821 acres of land, of which 799 acres have already been acquired. Efforts are underway to acquire the remaining land parcels. Kumar emphasized that the project is adequately funded, and land availability poses no impediment to the airport's development.

The Ayodhya International Airport is set to play a pivotal role in enhancing connectivity to this historic city and promoting regional development.
