Nagpur Flying Club Gets Rs 0.5 Million State Grant

In a significant boost to aviation training in Vidarbha, the Maharashtra government has approved a grant of Rs 49.6 lakh (Rs 0.05 billion) for the Nagpur Flying Club for the financial year 2025–26. The assistance is intended to support salaries, aircraft maintenance, fuel, and infrastructure upkeep, thereby strengthening one of the state’s oldest aviation training institutes.
The General Administration Department (GAD) issued a Government Resolution (GR) on 25 August confirming the release of the funds. Of the total amount, Rs 39.96 lakh has been allocated under non-salary grants, while Rs 9.59 lakh is designated for salary-related expenses.
According to the GR, the Divisional Commissioner of Nagpur has been named as the controlling officer, and the tahsildar (general administration) at the commissioner's office will serve as the drawing and disbursing officer. These officials are responsible for ensuring adherence to financial rules and submitting utilisation certificates to the state government.
Founded during the pre-Independence era, the Nagpur Flying Club has trained hundreds of pilots and aviation personnel over the decades. However, the institute has often faced financial challenges, which resulted in irregular training schedules. Officials noted that the fresh funding would help streamline operations during the current fiscal year, ensuring uninterrupted pilot training and infrastructure development.
