Noida International Airport to Start Commercial Flights From June 15

Noida International Airport (IATA code DXN) announced it will begin commercial flight operations from June 15. IndiGo will operate the first passenger flight, to be followed by Akasa Air and Air India Express as carriers commence services. The commencement follows the inauguration by the Prime Minister and the approval of the Aerodrome Security Programme by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, which confirmed that security framework, systems and operational procedures meet regulatory requirements ahead of commercial operations.

Further details on schedules, destinations and passenger facilities will be released in due course by the airport operator. The facility currently includes one runway and one passenger terminal with an annual capacity of 12 million (12 mn) passengers, and it has been designed to serve growing demand in the National Capital Region and western Uttar Pradesh. The development emphasises modern terminal infrastructure, efficient operations and multimodal connectivity to ensure a seamless passenger experience for travellers.

Officials described the project as a world-class airport blending Swiss efficiency with Indian hospitality and said it will offer a wide range of passenger services and commercial amenities. The beginning of commercial operations is expected to boost regional connectivity and support economic growth, trade, tourism and investment across the broader region. The long-term master plan envisages scaling capacity to handle over 70 million (70 mn) passengers annually in phases over the concession period, reflecting an intent to expand capacity substantially.

The opening marks a key milestone for the long-awaited greenfield aviation project in Uttar Pradesh and is intended to connect the greater Delhi region and western Uttar Pradesh to major domestic and international destinations. The Aerodrome Security Programme approval will allow operational procedures to be finalised and passenger services to commence as arrangements are completed. Further operational and schedule information will be published by the airport and airlines, and the operator reiterated its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions through sustainable design and environmentally responsible operations.
