Rs 3.09 Billion Sanctioned For Kavach Rollout In NCR Zone

The Central Government has sanctioned Rs 3.09 billion for deploying the Kavach automatic train protection system across the Northern Central Railway (NCR) zone. The technology is designed to prevent collisions, enhance operational safety, and improve punctuality.
Kavach uses radio communication, GPS, and on-board equipment to monitor train speeds and automatically apply brakes when necessary. The rollout in the NCR zone will cover high-density routes, benefiting both passenger and freight operations.
Officials said the investment reflects the government’s commitment to modernising railway infrastructure and improving safety standards in line with global best practices. The implementation is expected to reduce human error and boost public confidence in rail travel.
