UP explores RapidX Corridor for Delhi-Noida Airport connectivity

The Uttar Pradesh state government is currently exploring possibilities to establish a RapidX corridor connecting Delhi with the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar. This plan was officially discussed during a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary D S Mishra in Lucknow. Additionally, officials have been instructed to develop a design for a monorail system linking the airport to Delhi.

The initiative to connect Noida Airport with New Delhi railway station follows a similar approach to Delhi's Express line. However, the increasing costs associated with the project are posing challenges for the construction of a metro connectivity. The estimated cost for the metro construction is approximately 3.5 billion rupees per kilometre. In contrast, the monorail project is projected to cost around 700 million rupees per kilometre, while a RapidX line could be constructed at an estimated cost of 2.5 billion rupees per kilometre.

The officials have clarified that, at present, no specific routes have been planned for either the monorail or RapidX link. The NCR Transport Corporation is currently focused on the Delhi-Meerut RapidX project, with the 17 km Sahibabad-Duhai stretch expected to commence operations within a few weeks.
