Building the road to success

Volvo Construction Equipment's unwavering support and impeccable service has led to the growth in business of JKM Infra Works Pvt Ltd.

Eastern India has an untouched mesmerising beauty of its own. The rocky and tea garden grazed paths of Eastern Assam did not have such good roads until a few years back when someone took the initiative to construct them. Since then there has been no turning back.

"There were not many good roads in Assam. As a student we were leaders and headed many movements. As time passed by, we wanted to do something worth for the state. And here I am, all these years later, from a student leader to a successful businessman," says Jugal Kishore Mahanta, Director, JKM Infra Works Pvt Ltd.

Pact of a lifetime

Five years back when the company was in its initial stages, Mahanta took his leap of faith and decided to venture into Volvo CE for his business needs. "It is very important to use the best of machines in the road construction business as they play a key role. And to be honest, I doubt if there was any other option that could be better than Volvo," he smiles.

Mahanta says that the strong and long-lasting machines with its fuel efficiency and robustness stands out amongst all the others in this filed. JKM Infra Works Pvt Ltd bought their first Volvo machine almost five years back. Over the years, he not only expanded his business with over 500 employees working under him but also extended his relationship with Volvo CE to a great extent. Currently he owns a number of EC-210 excavators, pneumatic tyre roller, DD-100 asphalt compactors, vibratory soil compactors SD-100 and G-930 motor graders amongst his set of Volvo machineries.

Spectacular machines

These are used in different stages to construct a beautiful road which includes digging up the ground followed by compaction and grading of the soil.

Next the bituminous layer is placed which is rolled to smoothen the road. "Volvo CE performs beyond expectations. Just providing the best machines do not make a company outstanding. The out-of-the-world service provided by Volvo CE make them the best.

Many instances in the past have left me spellbound like the spontaneous services they have unfailingly provided in the extreme interiors of the region." He says this as he recounts an experience when a machine stopped working and did not have spare parts at the time. It was in no time that Volvo CE flew two of their engineers to the interiors in Assam and they had the machine working within eight hours. "These Volvo CE machines are self-sufficient and in all these years I never have had a chance to complain," he says with a gleaming smile.

Growing business

Since the time they started using Volvo equipments, the production has shot up and the fuel efficiency also helped in cost cutting. It is the perfect investment in this line of business.

Looking at the machines working in front of him, Mahanta says, "When you asked me what makes Volvo CE stand out from others, I really don't have a single answer. As I said it is not just the machine quality or fuel efficiency or the services, they also have a really strong Hydraulic feature and an in-built safety mechanism. So I can relax and not worry at all."

Going ahead in the future, the company has plans of expanding their business with the assistance of Volvo CE. "In my line of business, I have not found anyone else provide me machines as Volvo CE. I can blindly trust on the quality and services as I have done since the first day. Their unquestioned commitment should be an inspiration to all."
