BPE launches world’s thinnest Active Tile for legacy data centres

Best Power Equipments (India) Pvt Ltd (BPE), a leading provider of power solutions, data centre systems, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), has launched the BPE Active Tile, the world’s thinnest active tile designed for legacy data centres and telecom infrastructure. At just 65 mm thick, the tile requires significantly less space than conventional active tiles, which need nearly 450 mm floor depth.

“Most legacy data centres were built decades ago for lower IT loads and traditional airflow patterns,” said A Prabhu, Executive Director – Technical (Global Operations), BPE. “As racks were added over time, cable congestion beneath raised floors increased. BPE Active Tile efficiently cools highly congested environments where traditional solutions cannot operate, including telecom switching sites, regenerated sites, cable routing stations, and POP/POI infrastructure. Rising temperatures in India make such solutions essential.”

The Active Tile includes glow-in-the-dark identification stickers for visibility and guidance during low-light or emergency conditions. By intelligently managing airflow, it addresses hotspots and air imbalances caused by mixed high- and low-density racks and cable bunching, directing cold air exactly where it is needed.

To eliminate Single Point of Failure risks, BPE Active Tile uses multiple fans and dual power supply redundancy, ensuring uninterrupted airflow in mission-critical environments. Constructed from reinforced fibre, it is lightweight, non-conductive, and supports up to 1,500 kg per square metre UDL, reducing floor stress while maintaining structural strength.

Since its founding in 2000 in Noida, BPE has grown into a global MNC, providing power solutions across 20+ countries in ASEAN and the Middle East. Its offerings include power backup systems from 650 VA to 8 MW, Li-ion solutions, Smart Racks, IDU, and comprehensive data centre solutions. The BPE Active Tile extends the company’s portfolio with intelligent, reliable, and energy-efficient airflow management for legacy and modern infrastructures.
